Firmware update 1.1.1

On September 27, 2007, Apple released 1.1.1 firmware, also referred to as 3A109a. It included numerous improvements. Many were surprised when Apple said this update may damage iPhones that have been hacked or unlocked. They had to say that from a legal standpoint. It wasn't stated to be a threat. It is not outside the boundaries of logic for a manufacturer to offically deny support for a modified product when it breaks due to no fault of their own. This updated caused many to have to repair their baseband if they used the first version of the AnySIM program as it destructively modified the iPhone's software.
